Structure of the RF sliding fire door
The door consists of individual slats based on a steel frame structure. The slats are covered with fire-resistant material and metal sheeting. Door leaf stability is achieved by reinforcing the panels with steel profiles connected by threaded rods. The slats are suspended from a guide rail; each slat is equipped with a separate roller carriage. RF sliding fire doors can be closed either by a counterweight system or by gravity. Guaranteed mechanical durability: 50,000 operating cycles (for electrically operated doors).
Types of fire-resistant sliding doors
- Single-leaf: The door consists of one integral leaf that slides either to the left or to the right.
- Double-leaf: The door is divided into two parts (either symmetrical or asymmetrical), with each leaf sliding to opposite sides of the opening.
- Telescopic: Each leaf is composed of 2–3 sections that slide telescopically behind each other, either to the left or right. This solution reduces the amount of space needed when the door is open.
- Manual or automatic: In automatic versions, opening and closing times can be individually adjusted.
Additional features
The RF sliding door can be supplied with an emergency exit door, available with or without a threshold, and can be equipped according to specific requirements. They can be mounted on concrete, brick, clay tile, silicate walls, or steel structures, ensuring the required fire resistance. Do I need a single-leaf or double-leaf sliding fire door?
A single-leaf door is suitable when there is enough lateral space to fully accommodate the leaf when open. A double-leaf configuration is useful for wide openings or when the travel is to be distributed towards both sides. The opening width, available space and certified door configuration must be considered when selecting the appropriate solution.

What maximum dimensions are possible, and is it made to measure?
Yes. Kavidoors sliding fire doors are manufactured to measure within the limits established by their classification, test results and technical documentation. Permitted dimensions depend on the fire resistance, number of leaves, total assembly weight, guiding system and support characteristics. Each opening must therefore be assessed before defining the door configuration.

How much lateral and upper space is needed for installation?
The door requires sufficient lateral space to accommodate the leaf or leaves when open. Space must also be reserved above the opening for the guide, hangers, supports and closing system. Where lateral travel is limited, a double-leaf or telescopic configuration may be considered. Kavidoors doors do not require ceiling anchors, but suitable lateral and upper supports are required to secure the assembly.

Can it stay open and close automatically in a fire?
Yes. During normal operation, the door can remain open using an electromagnetic hold-open system.
